Blaze shouldered the door to Tikal’s apartment open and slipped inside. The place smelled stale from disuse and she knew there wasn’t anything in the refrigerator, but wine cooler was well stocked. She poured herself a liberal amount of a table red and sank into one of the dining room table chairs. The ambient temperature was downright nippy with the heat set uncomfortably low to save on the power bill.

Neither woman had been in the residence since the wedding, but at the moment Blaze really didn’t have the patience for how much Silver’s blubbering filled up her own apartment.

So, she was going to sleep at Tikal’s tonight. Because she had to relax and to focus.

Focus on not being upset. Focus on not being furious. Focus on not being enraged.

Silver…

Blaze had never been more embarrassed in her life. A week into her planned three-week honeymoon, she had dropped her blushing bride and rushed back to the city, taking the last available seat on a red-eye flight from the remote and expensive tropical resort. Sleep deprived and panicked over Prower Lab’s massive breach of NDA, she’d done her hair and make-up in the taxi to the office, using her phone in selfie mode as a mirror.

Stumbling into the conference room in heels borrowed from a junior paralegal, she was surprised not to find Silver, who by all logic should be here, but Sonic T. Hedgehog in deep conversation with Dr. Prower. She froze in place, mouth falling unceremoniously open.

Catching sight of her, the young man had the grace to look mortified.

Instead of greeting her boss or, hell, even the esteemed (and in legal deep shit) Dr. Prower, the first words out of her mouth were “What in Solaris’ name are you doing here?”

The crowded conference room fell completely silent at her outburst. Dr. Prower cleared his throat. “May I introduce-“

“I know who he is.” Blaze interrupted, clearly having lost hold of her manners. “I want to know why-“

“Maurice performed the bulk of the work underpinning Dr. Prower’s conclusions.” Mr. Kintobor explained as he reclined in the chair at the head of the conference table. His complexion hid evidence of exhaustion well, but Blaze knew what to look for. An undercurrent of fatigue laced his voice, and she surmised he’d gotten as little sleep as she the previous night.

Maurice? Could she be mistaking this blue hedgehog for another? No. No, a complete stranger wouldn’t behold her with such bold-faced terror. This Maurice was Sonic and he was extremely ashamed and afraid of her.

As he should be.

When she got a hold of Silver…

Sonic’s horror transformed strangely. His gaze broke from Blaze’s and his face hardened into something akin to hateful as he gazed at Mr. Kintobor. Blaze squinted, sensing subtext like a literary bloodhound. What was this?

Turning to her boss, she saw an even stranger sight. Instead of looking at her with the irritation and disappointment she deserved for her outburst, Mr. Kintobor was looking at Sonic. His face was the placid, apathetic (though tired) mask he always wore, but the skin beneath his eyes was ever so slightly tightened. Animosity?

Oh no. Powerful Solaris, who doth shine in the heavens to witness and judge all sinners, Mr. Kintobor knew!

Blaze had to resign.

There was no covering up for this. The moment anything went to discovery, they were cooked. No matter the facts, Silver being with Sonic in any capacity was such a massive conflict of interest that the entire body of work produced by Prower Labs was suspect and potentially inadmissible in court. They’d lost the legal battle before it even started because of those two!

And if the Prower Report was correct in its conclusions, rejection in court would allow Starline Pharmaceuticals to keep hurting Omegas until another lab could corroborate Prower’s evidence. Dear god, Silver dating Sonic could literally be causing needless pain and suffering.

How could Silver have such terrible judgement?

Mr. Kintobor’s face softened as his attention shifted her. “Thank you for ending your honeymoon early and returning with such haste. May I have a word with you privately, Blaze?” Was that…sympathy she saw skirting across his muzzle?

She wasn’t going to get a chance to resign. “Yes, sir. Of course.” He was just going to fire her and he was sorry about that.

Curiously, Mr. Kintobor’s office was being renovated, so they went to Blaze’s. He sank into one of the chairs facing her desk, but she remained standing by the door, uncomfortable in a room that was no longer hers. He arched a brow at her, crimson accents stretching.

Blaze’s mouth was dry. Yes, she’d had to deliver terrible news plenty of times in her life, but never before had she committed such a massive personal failing. Best just to get on with it. “Sir, I must inform you that I have identified a significant conflict of interest regarding the current issue we have gathered to discuss.”

“How was Lemuria?” He ignored her confession. That was strange. Mr. Kintobor had never been one to prolong the inevitable when it came to dismissals. The man could be considered cold, but he wasn’t cruel. “I apologize that circumstances have necessitated your premature return. And my deepest gratitude for the patience of your wife.”

He was trying to put her at ease. Perhaps some offer or compromise was coming, but Blaze refused to get her hopes up regarding the terms and conditions. Furthermore, she wouldn’t accept it. On her honor, she’d placed their entire mission as a company in danger and she would accept the punishment.

Blaze needed everything out in the open. No confusion. No conjecture. “My brother Silver, who is the lead liaison with Prower Labs is in a romantic relationship with the lead researcher responsible for the integrity of the data contained within the Prower Report.”

Allowing Silver to even work at KLS at all had been an immense allowance. In hindsight, she should never have allowed the indulgence no matter how much it bolstered his confidence and career opportunities.

Mr. Kintobor sighed and continued to sit awkwardly twisted so as to face her as she stood by the door. “Perhaps you would like to sit down?”

“And you already know that.” Blaze declared.

Trust was important to her. He needed to know that the moment things like this came to her attention, she would tell him and she just had to trust that him knowing and not telling her was for the best. She couldn’t really fathom any such reason in the moment, but Blaze had been on this earth long enough to know that perfectly sound logic could exist outside her awareness.

“May I request that you sit down, please.” The repetition contained a slight edge. Weariness bred impatience.

She wasn’t done, however. “I must offer my immense apologies, sir, for having been entirely ignorant of such a significant lapse in my brother’s judgement. I am wholly at fault.”

“Blaze!” Mr. Kintobor snapped and her tail shot straight up. “Sit down.” After a moment, he added, “Please.”

Meekly, Blaze rounded her desk and sank into her chair, coming to eye level with her boss’ fierce and slightly perturbed crimson gaze. She’d work for, no, with him for years now, building this company, navigating the legal twists and turns that threaded the economic landscape like a raging river. And now it was over.

“I will be resigning, effectively immediately.” She slipped into her deposition voice. Cold. Indifferent. Meant to be unassailable in conviction and to be submitted into the public record permanently. Blaze was loath to leave, but if she was going, she’d like to take her dignity with her as best that she could.

Mr. Kintobor’s shoulders slackened and he ran his gloved hand through his dark quills. He closed his eyes as if calling on some guardian angel of patience. “No.” He said sharply, frustration nearly breaking his stoic countenance. “You will not be.” His eyes opened with a look at that accepted no insolent resistance.

Blaze frowned. No? What did he mean no? Didn’t he understand that her resignation was the most logical option? The company could save face by blaming the whole mess on her and her departure would absolve them of responsibility. Mr. Kintobor had to know this was the best course of action.

He did know, in fact, but the answer remained no no matter how much Blaze argued, until her boss’ patience snapped and he declared an unceremonious end to the conversation. “We have more pressing business to attend to,” Shadow Kintobor growled, standing and rebuttoning his jacket, “than your honor bound self-sacrifice. I will not hear a word about your or anyone’s resignation again. Have I made myself clear?”

“Yes, sir.”

So Blaze had been denied permission to fall upon her sword and was thusly sentenced to two solid days of mind crushing work instead. Hours of intense strategy sessions speckled with rushed mouthfuls of catered sandwiches and brief breaks to use the facilities. She might have gone home to her apartment for a few hours of fit full ‘rest’.

She might have called her wife, sobbing.

She might have screamed her throat raw at Silver.

She might have given him an ultimatum or two.

She might have called her wife again, desperately wanting to know when her flight landed.

Needless to say, Blaze had been tracking Tikal’s cellphone from the moment it reentered the local network, only peeling herself from the office at the last moment.

A key inserted into the front door lock and retracted once it was obvious it was unneeded. Blaze placed down her wine glass and pushed to her feet. Her lovely new wife entered, burdened by two rolling suitcases and an overloaded shoulder bag.

“Welcome home.” Blaze smiled as she took the suitcase handles and leaned in for a short kiss. “How was the flight?”

Tikal sighed, her thick quills tied back and covered modestly by a travel scarf. “It was a flight, that’s for sure.” She dropped her bag and sank into a seat beside Blaze’s at the dining table. “Lonely, I suppose, without you.” She looked forlornly at her ever-so-busy love. “I’ll have what you’re having.” She gestured at the wineglass.

Blaze happily obliged. They’d order something later. Something indulgent and grease like Chu-nanese or pizza. Stressful times allowed for a little deviation from healthy habits.

Filled glass in hand, Tikal leaned back and stretched. “So how is…whatever it is that was so important?”

Blaze shrugged. “I don’t want to bore you with the details.” She messaged the flesh between her eyes. “But the past two days have been a special, bonus ring of hell.”

“Oh my,” Tikal’s brows rose, “even below the one for telemarketers?”

“Even below the one for people who listen to their phone on speaker when in public.” Blaze deadpanned.

Tikal held a straight face for, perhaps, a microsecond, which, let’s be very honest, was quite a feat. Clear, crisp, unadulterated mirth spilled forth into the home, filling it – and Blaze’s heart – completely. “Oh my poor candlelight, you must be tired.”

Blaze nodded absently. “To be sure, but the work isn’t the worst of it.” She sighed.

Her wife frowned. “There’s something else?”

Blaze slumped further back in her seat. “I discovered something rather frustrating about Silver’s boyfriend.” Tikal tilted her head but waited for Blaze to continue. “Something downright infuriating, is more like. You know that blue hedgehog he’s been seeing?”

Tikal nodded. “Yes, I met him briefly at the wedding. Sonic, right? Your father really enjoyed his company during the ceremony as I recall.”

Blaze hummed confirmation. “Well, I found out yesterday that Silver lied to me. He infact had not, as he told me, met Sonic on a dating app.”

“Oh my.” Tikal’s tone did not match the fury Blaze continued to experience from the betrayal, but that was to be expected. Tikal had a very forgiving heart. “How’d they meet then?”

“At work.” Blaze swirled the wine in her glass, watching the deep red color run legs down the interior walls. “Sonic is employed by one of our vendors. I can’t go into details without breaking confidentiality, but it’s a big problem.”

“How so?” Oh my sweet, summer child.

Blaze took a fortifying drink before she began to explain. “Their relationship could be used to call into question all the data involved in the current dumpster fire I’m trying to manage.”

“Wait, is this the dumpster fire you had to come back for or something else?”

“Yes, it’s a completely separate problem, but the two are closely related.” She really shouldn’t be talking about this. Now that they were married, there were a number of laws protecting Tikal from anything Blaze might tell her, but it was still bad form. “I still can’t believe Silver! It’s completely unprofessional. He wants to start law school next year, but how does he think it looks having such an instance of misconduct blemishing his reputation?!”

“He’s young.” Tikal offered.

“He still knew better enough to lie to me about it!”

Tikal frowned. “Maybe we should talk about something else. You’re getting a bit upset.”

Blaze wouldn’t be derailed. Her fire had been lit. She’d been stewing in her concoction of anger and embarrassment all alone for too long. “I told him he needs to resign or break it off with Sonic.”

“Blaze!” Tikal sounded aghast. “Do you really think that wise?”

Rich, dark red wine swirled in her glass as Blaze twirled the stem slowly. She’d been harsh, yes, but also wise. “The alternative is that I dismiss him for cause! I can’t have him putting this case in jeopardy. I-I can’t tell you the specifics, but we work in pharmaceuticals, dearest. People’s wellbeing is involved. Is his relationship with Sonic that important that it’s worth harming others? Besides, they’ve only been dating a month.”

Tikal sat quietly for a long moment, considering Blaze’s words carefully. Solaris, she was so mild and tempered. Cool water to Blaze’s fiery conflagration. “What did he choose?” The echidna asked slowly.

“The right answer.” Blaze said with bitter confidence. The real world wasn’t a romcom where everything worked out as long as the love interests found each other in the end. Actions had consequences and Silver was more than old enough to learn that. “He might be bawling his eyes out at our place now, but eventually he’ll thank me for making him save his career.”

“Blaze…” Tikal had such a big heart that cushioned her against the stark realities of the world. Of course she was having trouble understanding.

“Sometimes you have to make hard decisions, princess.”

Tikal didn’t seem convinced. She considered Blaze for a long moment. “Look, you seem to have had a really long, difficult day.” She said finally.

Blaze snorted. “That’s putting it mildly…”

“Why don’t we set this aside for a minute?” Tikal smiled warmly. “Lay down your burdens and be here with me.”

Blaze hummed. “That sounds nice.” She shook her head. “But what about you? You’ve been traveling all day. You must be exhausted.”

Tikal placed her wineglass on the table. “I am a little stiff.” She said, her eyes lidding. “I’ve got this really annoying kink in a hard-to-reach place. Maybe you could help me with that?”

A sly smirk tilted Blaze’s muzzle as she picked up what her wife was laying down.

Tail wrapping around them both, Blaze blindingly led the pair to the bedroom, her eyes pinched closed as they continued to kiss passionately, hands exploring the curves of each other’s hips, back, and rump. They had been robbed of several days together and needed to make up for lost time.

Legs bumping against the foot of Tikal’s bed, Blaze twirled and tipped her gorgeous echidna into the soft surface. She landed, quills splaying in a halo, and formed a beautiful puddle. Lips parted to recover from her breathlessness, Blaze ripped off her blazer and tossed it carelessly to the floor.

Kneeling on the bed, she loomed over Tikal and began feverishly pawing at the buttons of her blouse. Her wife arched her back to allow easier access. Just as the last impediment came loose, Blaze pulled back the concealing fabric to reveal two plump mounds cupped in a lacy bra. Blaze purred at the overly ornamental lilac brassiere. Hardly comfortable travel attire…

Taking blatant advantage of Blaze’s momentary awe at such a brilliant display, Tikal lifted and captured her wife’s lips once more. The advance was gentle but firm, pushing Blaze onto her haunches. Her hands flew up and threaded through thick quills as she bracketed the prettiest face in the universe.

Tikal’s lips parted and Blaze’s tongue slipped in tentatively, grace soft lips before entering as one would a sacred temple. Thusly distracted, she had no defense (nor desire for defense) against soft, bare hands working down her own front, shedding her public flesh for the private underneath.

Disengaging her hold on Tikal’s face (briefly, mind you), Blaze flung off her designer blouse to lie disheveled on the high pile carpet with her blazer. Her own bra – a much more mundane affair – met a similar exile.

The pair parted – Blaze off the bed entirely – to perform the ritual of removing one’s bottoms. Tikal undulated her legs and wiggled her hips to free herself of a long, blocky-printed skirt, revealing virginally white panties. Fingers working quickly at her belt and fly, sharp jerks extricated Blaze’s trousers.

Tail thrashing, Blaze gazed across the supine form of the most beautiful woman in the world. Kind, smart, and funny all elegantly packaged in immaculate flesh. She couldn’t imagine a more perfect partner. Tikal spread her arms invitingly, breasts rising with a deep inhale.

Blaze pounced, pinning the laughing echidna against the soft fabric of the made bed they were about to shred. Another deep kiss played the prologue to a long journey of hot, desperate pecks that trailed down jaw, neck, collar bone, lower, lower, chest, ribs, navel, lower still- Blaze caught the thin elastic of Tikal’s panties between her fangs and wrenched the poor things down.

The telltale sound of tearing cloth paired with a startled shriek from Tikal. “Blaze!”

“I’ll buy you more.” Blaze mumbled through ruined fabric. She spat out the wreckage and beheld the rich, peach-orange territory she was about to ravish live an invading army. Whatever Tikal was going to say in response was drowned in the filth moan she released as Blaze laved her tongue over the echidna’s lonely clitoris.

Tikal gripped Blaze’s head with her thighs and drug her forward as Tikal shifted further back into the bed, pulling Blaze to lay on her belly to perform her service. She began to work, the extra texture of her feline tongue doing unspeakable things to her partner. Tikal’s body relaxed, all the tension of the day evaporating, as she let the sensation flow over her.

Wife melting into a puddle underneath her care, Blaze wiggled to reach a paw down between her own legs and began rubbing lazy circles on herself. The heat under her fur grew, so hot she thought she might start steaming in the chilled apartment.

When Tikal began to mewl sweetly and her hips started to grind into Blaze’s face, the cat released the grip she’d been keeping on her wife’s thigh and slipped a finger into the growing dampness below where she attended with her tongue. Tikal released a shuddering moan and bit her lip.

It was amazing how out of sorts they’d gotten with just two days apart. They weren’t the most sexual of creatures, but stress did wonders to one’s libido it seemed.

Blaze was a studious lover, having spent many hours investigating the exact places to stimulate to unravel Tikal like a skein of yarn. Tikal tilted her hips so that her pubic symphysis and Blaze’s curved finger abused the snot out of her Skene’s gland. Blaze was renowned in her profession or her oration, and the skills were lossless in transfer.

A second finger joined the first and the pair scissored open, working multiple surfaces in concert. Tikal’s hips bucked, nearly ejecting Blaze from her place of worship, but the cat was stubborn. The peak was in sight and Blaze would plant her flag or Solaris help her. Strong muscles contracted and, as Tikal’s body going taunt crushed Blaze’s fingers, her back arched off the bed.

“Blaze!” Tikal screamed as her orgasm cracked through her like a bullwhip. Her wife dutifully worked her through it, rhythmic kitten licks providing rapid fire friction to accompany the assault on the spongy special spot deep inside. A full rout with zero casualties, but don’t pack it in yet, soldier.

When at last Tikal settled, Blaze exited and lifted, crawling over the puddle of her lover to capture her lips in a deep, hungry kiss. After a long moment, Tikal pulled away and giggled. “Wipe your mouth!”

“I wouldn’t dream of it. How can I share how amazing you taste?”

Tikal’s hand slipped between them, finding Blaze’s tantalized entrance, and slipped her middle and ring finger in without resistance. She cupped her hand, gently pressing Blaze’s pubic mound and giving her something firm to chase her pleasure against.

Blaze ground into Tikal’s palm as her fingers tangled through burnt orange quills and she kissed the oxygen from her lungs. All the tension that had been squatting in her body was getting a rude awakening as pleasure broke the locks with a sledgehammer and evicted the miscreants with prejudice. By a court order, everyone out!

Soft fingers gingerly walked over the shell of her ear and Blaze shuddered. A dull claw traced the helix and then traveled down the pinna. Blaze whined and her eye rolled up. She was vaguely aware of Tikal giggling, but she had no reservations about showing her wonderful wife how much she loved her touches. She had no defense against such ministrations, your honor.

Suddenly a hot slice of pain carved its way from her hip down Blaze’s leg. She hissed and her face scrunched. “Fuck…” She said in the not hot way.

Tikal retracted her hand, “Darling? Your hip?”

Blaze could do little but nodded as she stiffly rolled to the side, laying on her back and aggressively rubbing the irritated joint. Years of dance in your youth left a permanent effect on her body, one that rarely could be considered positive. She largely had her coxa saltans well managed with regular stretches and various other non-invasive means, but she’d been remiss the past few days. Something must have been drawing her attention…

“Do you want me to schedule an appointment with Storm?”

“That’d be nice.” Blaze managed through grit teeth.

“Okay, I will, but no matter what is going on at the time, you have to actually go.”

“I’ll try.” The pain was easing.

Tikal hovered close, wanting to help, but knowing Blaze got a bit touchy when she was in pain. “Do you want to keep going?”

Fuck yes, she did. “Yes, but you need to be on top.”

Tikal smiled and shifted. She turned her hand, cupping Blaze’s heat firmly and laid her head on Blaze’s bosom as she pressed and slid her delicate hands in and out, applying just the perfect pressure and friction. Hip still throbbing dully, Blaze ignored it in favor of focusing on the bleary-eyed face of her lover.

Her princess. Her perfect gem. The other half of her soul crafted into the most beautiful woman on the planet. Tikal’s gentle heart could tame enraged gods. Blaze’s fire heart could only contain them, locked in a cage of dutiful service.

As Tikal worked her back up the hill, Blaze gently caressed the echidna’s face with one hand and fondled her own breast with the other. She cupped the flesh and kneaded the tissue at the peak. Tikal increased the speed of her caresses, heel of her palm rubbing delicious friction against Blaze’s clit with every stroke while her curved fingers hooked into her g-spot.

Blaze moaned and arched her back. “Settle down. You’re going to pinch your nerve again.” Tikal chided, though she smirked mischievously.

“How can I when you do that?”

“Do what? This?”

Blaze’s tail stiffened into a rigid pole as she crested her orgasm like the sun at dawn. All the bells of Blaze’s empire were ringing, ushering in this happy occasion, the satisfaction of their monarch. Long live the Queen…

Laying breathless, the chill began to sink into their sweaty pelts. They crawled under the covers and slotted themselves together, a tangle of loose quills and mussed fur, sharing one another’s warmth. As they cuddled, Blaze’s mind started its pleasure drunken wander back to the real world.

They should probably start thinking about something to eat. Where was Blaze’s phone? Blazing Solaris, a pizza sounded good right about now. Something greasy and covered in pepperoni. Maybe sausage. Goodness knows Blaze was never going to attempt to cook again-

“My cousin asked me for advice on ring shopping.” Tikal said.

Or they could talk. Talking was good too.

“Was he at the wedding?”

Tikal nodded. “All my cousins were at the wedding, silly.”

“Right.” How could Blaze forget? Tikal’s side of the guest list had been five, no, six times longer than Blaze’s. She tried not to think of how much money they’d have saved if she’d just been stubborn about keeping the event intimate. Sure would have helped with the down payment on their new house. This is intimate, Blaze could hear Tikal responding. “I guess we inspired some romanticism. Which one is this?”

“Locke Junior.”

Blaze frowned. “That’s the police chief’s son, right? Who’s also a police officer?” The one who was in some sort of situationship. What was it? Blaze remembered being scandalized, but couldn’t recall why.

“Yes.”

“Well, they won’t even need to change the letter head if he ever takes after his father.”

“Grandmatron was really upset about that.”

“What? Your cousin going into law enforcement?”

“No, not that. It’s prideful to name your children after yourself. It robs them of owning the honor they provide the clan. All glory is for the Knuckles clan, not for any one individual member. Junior effectively has no name of his own.”

Blaze was always fascinated to learned new facet to the echidnan culture. Much of the archaic lore and rituals didn’t have much use in the modern world, but the clans still tried to adapt the old ways.

“Why is he asking you about ring shopping?” Blaze shifted so she rub her paw against her aching hip once more. “I was the one who did that for us.”

“He can’t ask anyone else.” She answered quietly. “And he trusts me with this…the rest of the clan might frown on him.”

“Why?”

“He’s an Alpha…and so is she.”

“Oh. Oh. Wait, how does that work?”

Even in the dimness of under the covers, Blaze’s superior sight could make out the knowing smile her wife was giving her…She might have just walked into a trap. “They work the same way we do. With love.”

Still, with a line like that, how could Blaze not kiss her? They made out under the covers for a few minutes, making plenty of warmth.

“Are you feeling better?” Tikal asked.

Blaze hummed contentedly.

“Good,” Tikal’s tone lost a little warmth, “because we need to talk about your hypocrisy.”

Blaze’s eyes shot open and she lifted, pushing off part of the covers. “What are you talking about?” Her muzzle wrinkled and her tail gave a wide thrash.

Tikal sat up as well, her face hard set for confrontation. “Making poor Silver break up with that boy he loves like that!”

Blaze crossed her arms. “I didn’t make him do anything. I gave him a chance to make things right and he did.”

“By breaking his heart?”

Blaze sighed. “Tikal, people’s lives are at stake.”

“Are you certain?” Orange brows pinched.

“What?” Blaze snorted.

Tikal didn’t care for being laughed at. “Are you absolutely certain that someone will die because Silver and Sonic are in love?”

Blaze sputtered. “Of course not. No one knows the future.”

“Right!” Tikal jabbed a finger at her. “And you said this was a separate issue to whatever had you returning home early right?”

Blaze rolled her eyes, “Yes, but-“

“But what, Blaze?” Tikal’s sad face was enough to make Blaze’s heart weep. “Are you letting the fear of potential misfortune destroy current, certain happiness?”

“It was the right thing for him to do.” She was trying to remain stalwart. She was trying to remain objective.

“The right thing for him or the right thing for you?” Tikal’s frown darkened and Blaze felt her resolve falter. “Whatever happened to not judging people on terrible days?”

Blaze scoffed. “I hardly think this is Silver’s worst day.”

“No, it’s yours.”

Blaze paused at that. Had she allowed her judgement to become clouded by her anger and stress?

Tikal gave her a flat stare. “Do you know who you are acting like?”

Blaze’s eyes went wide as the realization dawned on her. “Shit!” She hissed, covering her face with her paws. “Your father.”

“My father.” Tikal repeated. She clasped her hands together. “How can you cause Silver to dispose of his feelings when we both had to beg to keep ours? Temper your fury and grant the poor boy some grace.”

Shit…She’d really messed up.

“You’re right. You are right.” Blaze rubbed her face with her hands. “I may have allowed my anger to blind me. I suppose Silver’s motivation to hide the true nature of their relationship was warranted, because I did exactly what he had been afraid of.”

Tikal smiled and rubbed Blaze’s arm, pulling her hands from her face. She took Blaze’s hands in hers. “It’s not too late to make this right. You just need to call and apologize to Silver.”

Blaze nodded. “I will.” She smiled lovingly at her wife, “What would I do without you?”

“Be lonely.” Tikal answered, leaning in for a passionate kiss.

Blaze smiled against her wife’s lips, raised a hand, and rubbed Tikal’s upper arm. “Silver’s been upset all afternoon, he can wait another twenty minutes.”

“Oh no you don’t!” Tikal shoved her feisty wife off her large bed. “Go make that call, fireball!” She jabbed a finger at the door of the bedroom.

“Yes, ma’am.” Blaze grinned, pushing to her feet.

End of chapter 55.
